Elf Balloon Arrival Idea + Printable Banner

Who says an elf can’t make a grand entrance? Ours decided to float into another Christmas season on a bunch of mylar balloons. The banner that he was holding was the perfect message! See how our elf staged this elf balloon arrival scene and grab our free printable banner below.

Just when we think our elf can’t POSSIBLY surprise us, he does! Today we welcomed Oboe back for another season (his 10th?!) and as usual, he made a grand entrance. I couldn’t wait to snap some pictures and add this to our huge collection of elf ideas. I also have a banner that you can print in case your elf wants to do something similar.

One thing to note: 13 helium-filled mylar balloons are sadly NOT enough to hold an elf on the shelf up. Nope. He (or she) will sink! Oboe was smart enough to tether himself to the ceiling fan when he realized that his balloons weren’t going to keep him suspended.

How to set up the scene

1. Tie bunch of balloons together.

2. Use string to tie elf to the balloon strings. (If your balloons aren’t enough to suspend the elf, you will need to use the string to tether him to the ceiling.)

3. Print out our banner. Cut the words out and tape the pieces together.

4. Tape banner to elf.

This was such a fun scene for the whole family to find! We are always happy to welcome Oboe back for another year of silly adventures. (Well, Bob will tell you otherwise. LOL He’s not thrilled with the elf, but most of the time he’s a good sport!)
