About Me

Hi there! 

My name is Devon and I started this blog in February, 2009.  Our family is comprised of my amazing husband of 14 years, Bob.  He is an electrical safety manager by day and a volunteer firefighter by night.  We have two super awesome kiddos, Lily (age 12) and Landon (age 7).

How the blog began: 

When we brought our daughter home from the hospital in September, 2008, we spent those first few (sleep deprived) days doing two things: watching her in awe and fascination and witnessing the biggest crash that the economy has seen in our lifetime.  Suddenly our nest egg didn’t seem so big. With a little bit of effort, we were surprised to learn how many money-saving ideas there really are – and knew we had to publish them for others to see. Some of our very early content included shopping hauls, coupon and frugal living tips and store matchups.

Over the years, I have transitioned to more of a lifestyle blogger. You will still find deal posts throughout the holiday shopping season, but I spend the majority of my time creating free printables, testing recipes, making DIY projects, writing travel pieces and more!

My education:

B.S. in Elementary Education (minors in Spanish and Special Education)
M.S. in Applied Technology

I hold a permanent Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate for K-6 and am a certified Special Education teacher K-12. I taught elementary school for 7 years before leaving the teaching world for a permanent maternity leave.  This blog began as a hobby while on that leave and it quickly evolved into a full-time career.

We are a PR friendly family and love checking out new products and places.  We offer product reviews, brand ambassadorships, video reviews, press trip attendance and more.
