Slow Cooker Dips Are Perfect Party and Tailgate Foods
I have your new favorite slow cooker dip RIGHT HERE. How many parties have you been to when someone brings a hot dip and it is the first menu item that is basically licked clean? I have been to enough tailgates, potlucks and other events over the years to watch this phenomenon happen over and over and over. Hot dips are a great addition to just about any menu – ESPECIALLY during those chilly winter months.
I love making slow cooker dips because they are pretty much dump-and-go when it comes to prep time. (Have you tried our slow cooker buffalo chicken dip yet? SO GOOD! We also love this hot spinach artichoke dip.) This sausage con queso dip features ALDI ingredients, since that is where we do a lot of our shopping. You can certainly substitute any comparable products from your preferred brand. The result will still be a delicious, flavor-packed hot dip that guests are sure to rave about and beg you to bring to the next party!
Sausage con Queso Slow Cooker Dip
This dip is so easy to make and only uses a handful of ingredients (three!). I love making this cheesy dip for potlucks!
When you go to melt the cheese in the slow cooker, depending on the size of your cooker, you might need to cut the cheese into smaller chunks. Mmmm just look at that cheesy goodness!!
Next it is time to dump in the (cooked) sausage and salsa. This recipe is so easy to make up a few hours before your event. Then you can bump the temperature down to the “keep warm” and just give it an occasional stir.

Sausage con Queso Slow Cooker Dip
Equipment
- Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 32 oz Cheese Melt
- 24 oz Can of Salsa
- 16 oz Sausage cooked, fat drained
Instructions
- Put entire block of cheese melt in slow cooker. (Cut in smaller chunks if necessary to make it fit.)
- Add the cooked sausage to slow cooker.
- Add salsa to slow cooker.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours (or until the cheese has melted completely). Stir every 20 minutes or so. Once the cheese has melted, bump the heat down to "warm" (or "low" if your slow cooker does not have a "keep warm" option).
- Serve with chips!
How to Serve the Dip
While you can certainly transfer this dip to a bowl, I highly recommend either serving it right out of the slow cooker or using a bowl/hot plate combo. I like this hot dip server – no electricity required, you simply fill it with hot water. This dip is best served warm and it will cool off quickly when it is removed from the heat.
We serve this dip with tortilla chips on the side. You could also use pretzels, crackers or veggies like carrots, celery and bell peppers.
Let me know what you think!
