VIntage Truck Christmas Tree Wooden Sign

I am really overdue in sharing some of my latest wooden handpainted signs that I have made! I made a brand new one today and I just love it. We are planning to hang it outside on our covered porch. There is something about this sign that makes me love it even more… Bob actually drew that truck and tree. He drew them freehand and I was able to import them into Silhouette Design Studio and incorporate them into my sign. *Swoon!*

Material – wood, acrylic paint, vinyl (Oracal 651)

Machine – Silhouette Portrait

Font – Samantha Upright

I painted a small patch of green on the wood first with acrylic paint and let it dry.  Then I cut the vinyl out using my Silhouette and first placed the tree on the green paint on the wood using transfer tape.  The paint came back out and the top half of the sign got a coat of red paint and the bottom half got a coat of black paint.

After the paint dried, I stuck the text and truck vinyl on the sign.  The entire sign got a coat of white paint.

Before the white paint dried completely, I peeled up all of the vinyl.  I had to touch up a few spots on the truck where I could see green paint from the first coat showing.

This sign will be a very welcome addition to our holiday decor – I’m not sure who is more proud of it, me or Bob!!  :)
