How to Cook Frozen Potstickers in Air Fryer

Air fryers are an awesome way to cook up your favorite frozen appetizers and other meals! See how to cook frozen potstickers in the air fryer.

Potstickers and Chopsticks

We continue to love our air fryer and use it on a weekly (many times daily) basis.  What an awesome machine!  We have cooked everything from fresh vegetables to meat to frozen foods in our air fryer.  The cooking is so consistent and the food comes out perfectly cooked every time.

When we are pressed for time (or simply looking to enjoy a tasty treat), we like to use the air fryer to cook up frozen appetizers and other foods.  The air fryer is such a time saver!

The air fryer is able to cook food and given frozen appetizers like these potstickers a crispy exterior that mimics deep frying the food in hot oil. You can skip all that grease and still enjoy many tasty foods that have a satisfying “deep fryer-like” texture and taste.

Cooking Breaded Frozen Potstickers in Air Fryer

Similar to other frozen apps, this food requires zero prep.

Preheat air fryer for 2 minutes at 400 F.

I do recommend using a non-stick cooking spray on the air fryer basket and also on the tops of the potstickers. You could also brush on olive oil if you prefer.

Arrange potstickers in a single layer in the basket.

I cooked these at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.

I recommend checking your potstickers after 8 minutes. If they do not appear cooked all the way through, or you simply want them a little crispier, stick them in for another 1-2 minutes.

Some readers have commented that they don’t prefer their potstickers to have a crispy shell. If that’s you, you might not want to air fry these and might be better off boiling them in water. You can also try adding 1/2 cup or so of water to the bottom of the air fryer basket. The water will steam during the cooktime and can help the shells to soften a little. We love crunchy potstickers, so the air fryer is our go-to cooking method. (I have seen similar opinions when it comes to pierogies… some like soft pierogies, others like crispy. It all comes down to personal taste preference and I don’t think there’s a wrong answer.)

  1. Thanks for the jumping off point! These were looking too dry after 6min. So. Added about half cup of water to bottom of air fryer. Next time I will at beginning and maybe put down heat to 380. To me, dumplings are best moist with a little pan sear to them, which happens very well once the steam cooks away! once done, I transferred to a glass bowl and poured the dipping sauce over to soften a little more. Some of the edges were so crunchy they stabbed my gums, but a good experiment for further tweaking! Thanks once again

  2. Excellent directions for cooking the perfect potstickers.
It’s unbelievable that after 10 minutes including the 400 deg. pre heat we were snacking and the clean-up was quick and ready for the next recipe.

  3. The edges on the potstickers come out a little crispy when cooking them this way. This is an air fryer. You are skipping the oil by air frying them, so you are trading off some of the texture for a healthier cooking method. The air fryer is great for saving time and achieving a crispier shell.

Check out the comment above yours that suggests adding water to the air fryer and bumping the cook time down a little. This might be a good method for you to try!

  4. 5 stars
We just had Kroger Premium Thai shrimp pot stickers in my new Cosori 5.8 and they turned out GREAT! Thank you for sharing! The edges were crispy but the rest of the dough was not, yet still a little color. (piping hot on the inside!)
I pre-heated my Cosori with the pre-heat button. (400 for 10) I did not spray the insert. (no need to if you get it hot and oil your pot stickers)
I sprayed both sides of the pot stickers with olive oil, (I have the Ovo stainless sprayer) and used the french fry pre-set, adjusting the temp and time. (in 4 minutes it reminded me to turn them over)
No sticking because the pan was so hot and they were oiled when I put them in. (sizzling sound when I dumped them in…) The underside browned beautifully because of the extremely hot pan and the oil. Any excess oil disipated to the bucket. ps…you need some oil in an air fryer if you want excellent results. Use healthy oils! (most of it goes to the bottom…)
I made a sauce of lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce and garlic powder. (in a hurry!)
I would pre-heat for 10 so the pan is piping hot. You won’t need to spray your pan if the pan is hot and you spray your pot stickers on both sides with “healthy” oil. I am not a fan of cooking spray at all, and I’ve also heard that canned cooking spray destroys non-stick surfaces. “The use of cooking spray is not recommended for use on non-stick cookware as cooking sprays burn at lower temperatures and will damage the non-stick coating of your product. An invisible buildup will impair the nonstick release system causing food to stick.”
Also, I would turn them after 4 minutes and let them cool off for about 10 minutes before serving. :)

  5. Perfect! Cooked at 400 for 8 minutes. Sprayed air fryer and sprayed top of pot stickers and my (very picky) husband loved them!! Told him after he ate them that they were air fried. Hr said cook them this way from now on!!
    Thank you!!!
