Holiday Party Hosting with ALDI!

So here we are – in the throws of holiday entertaining.  I love having people over throughout the holidays, though of course that can be challenging to do on a budget.  Parties and hosting mean food and drink which translate to spending a fortune.

Right?

When ALDI asked me if I would like to host a holiday get together using their food and beverage products, I was intrigued.  As I flipped through the current holiday catalog I immediately noticed two things – the enormous selection and the rock bottom prices.  Due to crappy PA state liquor laws, our ALDIs do not sell wine – but ALDI stores in other states offer an extensive list of award-winning wines that sell in the $4-$7/bottle range.

My sister and I headed out to ALDI last week, ready for some serious shopping.  Spending just $80 (less than $9/person), we managed to purchase an entire meal – appetizers, main course and dessert for our party of 7 adults and 2 kids.  That also included the gingerbread kit that we splurged on for the girls to make after dinner AND some fun candy to throw in everyone’s complimentary wine glass!

Our menu included:

Apps: Cheese Platter (big hits – edenVale Honey Goat Cheese – just $1.99! – and edenVale Brie), Crackers (Savoritz 6 Cracker Assortement – $2.49), Spinach Dip and SHRIMP cocktail

Main Course: Cheese Ravioli and Turkey Meatballs in Marinara Sauce with Garlic Cheese Toast

Dessert:  Belmont Petite Cheesecake Assortment 24 ct ($5.99!) and Chocolate Covered Cream Puffs

The food was honestly delicious.  We had a great time welcoming our out-of-town family as they arrived for a holiday stay.  Everyone complimented the food throughout the evening and all were really pleased with the meal selection.  We all agreed that ALDI offers some fantastic products at a true bargain rate – quality is definitely not compromised.

Of course, the highlight of the night was after dinner – when Lily Bean and her best friend (and cousin) Ava Dee got to decorate their very first gingerbread house.  We picked up the Benton’s Kids Gingerbread House Kit at ALDI (just $6.99) and it came with everything we needed: house pieces, icing and candy.

The girls had a blast and the adults had a great time watching them!

ALDI provided us with gift cards to cover the cost of food and drink for our party.  They also provided gift cards for our guests.  All opinions are 100% our own.

  1. We have a new Aldi in town and LOVE it! My kids also got one of the gingerbread houses and loved it. It was much cheaper than the ones we have bought in previous years, and the quality was excellent. I loved the fact that the icing was already mixed. Ones I have bought in the past had to be mixed first – big mess! Love the tray, too!

Aldi is awesome!!!!! The quality of the food is wonderful and it is rare that I absolutely need something that they don’t have. (Last week I wasn’t able to get unsweetened chocolate or fresh green beans, but that was no big deal.)
