Easy Instant Pot BBQ Chicken Legs

Even on nights when you only have a few minutes for dinner prep, these easy Instant Pot BBQ chicken legs are incredibly delicious and full of flavor. This is about as simple as it gets – give them a try!

  • 2-4 lbs chicken legs (drumsticks)
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1-2 cups water


  • Sprinkle the chicken legs with salt and pepper, to taste.

  • Toss chicken legs with 1 cup barbecue sauce (until coated).
  • Pour water into the pressure cooker liner and place the trivet inside. Put the chicken on top of the trivet.

  • Close the pressure cooker and set the value to sealing. Set the pressure cooker to manual and pressure cook on high for 12 to 15 minutes depending on the amount of chicken. When the cycle is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes prior to setting the valve to quick release.
  • Preheat the oven broiler. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (for easier clean up) and spray with non-stick cooking spray
  • Remove the chicken legs from the pressure cooker and place on baking sheet. Brush with additional barbecue sauce.

  • Place under broiler and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Turn the chicken and brush with sauce again. Cook another 3 to 5 minutes or until barbecue sauce caramelizes. Repeat if desired for saucier chicken legs.
