I have grown up hearing the Vermont Teddy Bear ads play on the radio, especially ramping up around Valentine’s Day. We recently road tripped with our 2 kids (2 and 7) from PA to VT and were looking for fun things to see and do along the way. The Vermont Teddy Bear Factory is a great way to spend an hour or so during a trip to Vermont.
Tours are offered throughout the week and vary by time of year and day of the week. (For example, we visited on a Thursday during the winter and hopped on the last tour of the day, 4 pm.) At the time of our visit, tours are $4 for adults, free for kids.
The kids loved the little bears they got after learning about the fabric cutting process. They have a hole cut into the top so they can be attached to your tour pin.
We loved checking out the bear hospital. All Vermont Teddy Bears come with a lifetime guarantee. If anything happens to your bear, you can ship it to the factory and the bear hospital will fix it!
You purchase your tour tickets at the front desk and then will probably have at least a few minutes to browse the gift shop and build-your-own-bear area. As you might already be aware – Vermont Teddy Bears are PRICEY (I don’t think I saw any bears less than $40ish unless they were super tiny.)
The tour itself lasts about 30 minutes and walks you along the production floor. We saw employees at work, sewing, cutting cloth and working on embroidery details. It was really interesting!
Update 2022: I am hearing that the Pajama Gram outlet is no longer open.
Visitor Tip – poke your head around the corner back by the bathrooms. It’s an “outlet center” for Pajama Gram!! We scored incredible deals on Christmas pajama leftovers – $5 for kid pairs and $10 for adult!!
There were some cute bear cutouts for pictures outside the factory. There was also a fun musical instrument area where the kids enjoyed a few minutes drumming their little hearts out.
