This candy board is the perfect snackable addition to your party or BBQ menu. It features red, white and blue colored candies which are arranged to represent the colors and pattern in the American flag.
Here’s how we built our version!
Ingredients:
- 3 Bags Red Candy (Suggestions: Swedish Fish, Red Gummy Bears, Watermelon Gummy Rings, Red M&Ms, Twizzlers Bites, or Red Jelly Beans)
- 2 Bags White Candy (Suggestions: White Chocolate-covered Pretzels, White chocolate Kit Kats, White Chocolate Reese’s PB Cups, White Chocolate Chips, Yogurt-Covered Raisins, or Marshmallows)
- 1 Bag Blue Candy (Suggestions: Blue Raspberry Sour Patch Kids, Blue M&Ms, Blue Jelly Beans, or Blue Gummy Bears)
- 1 Bag White Mint Life Savers
Instructions:
- Prepare Your Tray: Start with a large rectangular tray or platter. Make sure it’s clean and dry.
- Create the Blue Section: Place the blue candy in the top left corner of your tray. This section will represent the stars on the American flag. Arrange the blue candies neatly to form a rectangle or square.
- Add the Red and White Stripes: Begin creating the flag’s stripes. Starting from the top right of the tray, alternate rows of red and white candies. Make sure to align the stripes neatly for the best visual effect.
- Create the Stars: Use the white mint Life Savers to form the stars within the blue candy section. Place them in a scattered yet orderly fashion to mimic the stars on the flag.
Tips and Tricks:
- Candy Choices: Feel free to get creative with your candy selections! You can use different types of candy as long as they fit the color scheme. For instance, you can substitute red licorice pieces or white Jordan almonds.
- Tray Size: Adjust the amount of candy based on the size of your tray. If you have a smaller tray, you might need fewer bags of candy.
- Kids’ Involvement: This is a fun activity to do with kids! Let them help sort the candies by color and place them on the tray. It’s a great way to involve them in holiday prep.
- Serving: For an added touch, place small candy scoops or tongs on the tray so guests can easily help themselves without disrupting the beautiful design.
