Easy Fluffy Shaving Cream Slime

Stuck inside during the cold winter months?  Make some easy fluffy shaving cream slime – more specifically, snowball slime!

The slime craze shows no sign of slowing down, and that’s especially apparent in our house.  Both of my kids are obsessed with slime and cannot seem to get enough of making it.  They love making all kinds of slime, though fluffy slime made with shaving cream is definitely one of their favorites.  We are just starting out with winter here in PA and while the temps this year have been a little milder so far, we know the cold and snow are never that far off. For today’s fun snowball slime, we added small styrofoam balls to the slime to look like the slime was snow with snowballs inside.

Materials Needed for Snowball Slime

2/3 Cup Elmer’s White School Glue
3 Cups shaving cream (the old school foaming kind!)
1 tsp Baking Soda
2 TBSP Saline Solution (must contain boric acid as an active ingredient)
Styrofoam Balls
1/4 Cup Warm Water

Slime Ingredients

How to Make Fluffy Slime

5. Add 1 TBSP of saline solution and mix.  You will immediately start to feel the change in consistency.  The mixture will start to pull off the sides of the bowl.  Add 1/2 TBSP of saline solution and mix some more.  Repeat with a final 1/2 TBSP of saline solution. Continue mixing and at this point if you’re still using a spoon, you can dig in with your hands and mix the rest of the way. If your slime is still not quite slime consistency, you can add a little more saline solution.

Note: This slime is fairly sticky!  I have seen some blogs advise using a drop or two of baby oil on your hands to cut down on the stickiness. I have to say, the stickiness did not bother me or my kids, so we just played with the slime and when we were finished, it washed right off with soap and water.

Play with slime right away as the shaving cream will settle after an hour or so and the slime won’t be as fluffy after that.
