Christmas Mimosas
How do you spend Christmas morning?
Over here, it’s typically an early-morning flurry of wrapping paper, toys, unbridled excitement, and LOTS of shrieking. After an hour or two of this fast-paced activity, the kids settle into their new loot from Santa and Bob and I stare at each other half-comatose, but happy. It is always around this time that we head to the kitchen for a coffee refill and something to eat. On a holiday morning like Christmas, a sparkling mimosa can be the perfect treat! We bring our drinks and food back into the living room and exchange our gifts with each other.
Mimosas Make the Perfect Breakfast Beverage
When you are looking for an adult beverage that contains light and sweet notes, mimosas are a great choice. Traditionally made with champagne and orange juice, we added some cranberry juice to this recipe.
Ingredients for these holiday themed mimosas:
Cranberry Juice
Orange Juice
Champagne (Prosecco sparkling wine is another popular choice for morning cocktails!)
Cranberries and Rosemary (for garnish)
* Sugared cranberries would make a great garnish, too!
How to Make it Holiday
There are a few finishing touches that we added to our mimosa drink that give it a decidedly Christmas or winter flair.
Garnish: We grabbed some sparkly gold cocktail picks and place several fresh cranberries on each one. The drinks were garnished with the cranberries and fresh rosemary sprigs.
Holiday Look: The cranberry juice gives this drink a pink color. Serve them in a champagne flute or fancy glass. Use a red and white striped straw to complete the look!
Drinks for a crowd: If you are serving these drinks at a party, another option is to mix a larger portion together in punch bowl. Guests can serve themselves from the bowl into champagne glasses.
