Sometimes, the simplest treats are the best. This no-bake, kid-friendly recipe for turning regular OREO cookies into chocolate covered peppermint cookies is simple and the results are downright decadent. Get the ingredient list and tutorial below!
Every year as the holidays approach, my desserts and baked goods take a decidedly chocolate + peppermint turn. I love this flavor combination and it’s really the only time of year that I indulge in the duo. I like peppermint mocha hot drinks and I REALLY love Peppermint JoJo cookies that Trader Joes sells.
I have been making these Chocolate Covered Peppermint OREO Cookies for years and I’m so happy to finally add them to the blog. (If you haven’t browsed my recipe collection lately, take a look! Lots of delicious and easy treats!) These cookies are the perfect blend of chocolatey goodness and refreshing peppermint, all wrapped up in one delightful holiday treat.

Ingredients
- 1 package of OREO cookies
- 1 package of white candy melts or 6 ounces of white chocolate chips
- Candy canes or peppermint candies
How to Make
- Melt the Sweetness: Start by melting your white candy melts or white chocolate chips. You can use a microwave or a double boiler for this step. I always use my Wilton candy melter for this recipe. Just make sure it’s nice and smooth – we’re going for that perfect, velvety coat.
- Dip & Delight: Now comes the fun part! Take your Oreo cookies and dip them into the pool of melted chocolate. Coat them generously, ensuring that each Oreo is fully covered in the melted candy.
- Peppermint Perfection: Before that candy sets, add a sprinkle of crushed candy canes or peppermint candies.
- Chill & Set: Place your freshly coated OREO cookies on a parchment-lined tray or cookie sheet. Pop them into the fridge for a little while to let that chocolate set. This will only take a few minutes.
- Enjoy & Share: Once the chocolate has set, it’s time to indulge! Grab a glass of milk, gather the family, and savor the delectable combination of rich chocolate and cool peppermint. These cookies are a crowd-pleaser, so be prepared to share!
