Looking for a creative snack idea that’s perfect for back to school, teacher appreciation, classroom parties, or even a fun after-school treat? This Pencil Cheese Snack Board is an easy, low-prep option that turns everyday ingredients into something totally eye-catching.
It comes together in just 10-15 minutes and is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.

Pencil Cheese Board Ingredients
- 1 sleeve of club crackers
- 1 lb mild or medium cheddar cheese, sliced
- 20 Hershey’s Kisses
- 5 kalamata olives, sliced (or use black olives).. OR use chocolate chips!
- 10 slices of deli turkey or chicken
- Toothpicks
- Charcuterie board or serving tray

How to Make It
- Lay Out the Cheese
Cut your cheddar into rectangular slices (roughly cracker-sized). Arrange them in neat rows to create the pencil “body.”
- Create the Wood Part with Crackers
Form a triangle using crackers to mimic the sharpened wood. Start with a row of 3 crackers, then 2 above that, and 1 at the top. Continue layering diagonally until it resembles the top of a pencil.

- Add the Pencil Tip
Place your olive slices or chocolate chips into a small triangle shape just above the crackers to form the pencil point.

- Add the Metal Cap
Line up Hershey’s Kisses directly under the cheese layer to represent the silver metal band on a pencil.
- Make the Eraser
Fold two slices of turkey or chicken accordion-style and stack. Secure with a toothpick. Repeat and place these at the end of your board to form the eraser.
