DIY Marshallow Shooters for the Kids!

Skip the flammable firecrackers and sparklers for this non-incendiary “explosion.” Make these DIY Marshallow Shooters with the kids for a “sweeter” version of traditional fireworks.

DIY Marshmallow Shooters

I have such fond and happy memories of 4th of July celebrations when I was a kid.  We never traveled far from home, we never threw a grandiose or extravagant party. We always stayed home and had some family friends over or a couple of times we drove to a neighboring town for their fireworks display. Our backyard barbecue menu was simple, All-American fare and including burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob and ALWAYS my mom’s slow cooker baked beans. (It literally would not have been July 4th without them!)

Summer here in Southeastern Pennsylvania is almost always a scorcher with extremely high temperatures and the threat of severe thunderstorms looming. When we weren’t in the pool, we were always searching for low-key activities to do on the 4th.  My sister and I always loved making various crafts and decorations for our BBQ.  Almost every single year you could count on us to create a big, long red white and blue paper chain from construction paper.  We would then hang the chain up outside around the patio.  It was such a simple thing to make, but we loved it.

Easy 4th of July Craft for Kids

Now of course, this craft does not have to be solely for patriotic themed holidays such as 4th of July.  Simply swap out the red, white and blue colors that I used to match the party/holiday theme of your choosing!  This is such an easy craft to adapt to any celebration, camp, holiday, rainy day, etc.
