Our Weekend at Woodloch Resort in the Pocono Mountains

It’s been a little quiet this weekend on MamaCheaps.com.  That’s because on Friday (after Biker Bob was finished getting his free drinks at Acme), we hit the road for a weekend getaway in the Poconos.

One morning last month, as I scoured the daily deal sites like I usually do, I came across a very interesting one on Eversave.  Eversave was offering a deal for a 2 night weekend stay in a private, 3 bedroom house at Woodloch Resort in the Poconos for $249 (plus taxes).   Retail price for this getaway? $810!  Talk about savings!  (We ended up scoring even BETTER upon check-in – the 3 bedroom houses that our deal included were all booked.  We got upgraded to a ROOMY 5 BEDROOM house for FREE!!)

Needless to say, we jumped on the deal and booked our stay.  We planned on a pre-Valentine’s weekend getaway with Lily Bean and my in-laws (who just so happen to be fabulous and are definitely fun to travel with!).  As I looked over Woodloch’s website, I was overwhelmed by the amount of amenities and events that they offer on a daily basis.  Woodloch is an all-inclusive resort that leaves little to be desired.  Winter brings snowy fun with snowmobiling, sledding, snowtubing, ice skating, sleigh rides, go karts and more.  Summer packs the same amount of fun, minus the frigid temps.  The enormous lake provides swimming, boating, fishing , water skiing, tubing and waterslides.  You will also find batting cages, a shooting range, bumper boats and the list goes on.  I haven’t even mentioned the year-round indoor activities and amenities: gamerooms galore, Nintendo Wii lounge, arts and crafts room, dining room, nightclub, sports bar, indoor pool(s), indoor splash park, toddler room…

As you might imagine, one weekend was scarcely enough to even crack the surface on all of the wonderful things to do at Woodloch.

We enjoyed a late night snow tubing adventure, walks around the campus, Lily Bean’s first time ice skating, and lots of time relaxing in our beautifully appointed house – complete with a fireplace.  That was the perfect was to unwind and warm up after a chilly day of winter fun.

I cannot say it enough – I am such a HUGE fan of daily deal sites.  Eversave in particular ROCKS.

The breakdown for the weekend?

$249 for an entire HOUSE

$59 in taxes, service charges, etc.

$26.50 to rent 5 pairs of ice skates

Approx $30 spent on food and snacks (in addition to the food we brought from home from the Mama Cheaps stockpile)

Not bad!

And the memories?  Oh yes, memories to last a lifetime.  That’s for sure!

  3. I *love* Woodloch! We’ve gone the past three years, though never stayed at one of the homes. We’ve always done the all-inclusive lodge with meals. It really is a great place for a family vacation. Sounds like you had so much fun!
