Moana cupcakes!
Our love of all things Moana is still going strong over here! The kiddos watch this movie every few days (if not more) and I frequently find myself humming parts of the soundtrack as I go about my day.
The Moana-inspired party treats that I want to share with you today are these adorable Heart of Te Fiti Moana Cupcakes that Lily and I made this afternoon! I used my Silhouette to cut the stencils out of cardstock. If you do not have a Silhouette you could make your stencils by printing out the Heart of Te Fiti logo and using an X-acto knife to cut out the shape.
Here’s what you need to make these awesome looking cupcakes:
Cupcakes (baked but not frosted)
Container of white frosting
Green food coloring
Green sugar crystals
Heart of Te Fiti Stencil
How to make:
You can use any standard cupcakes you’d like. If you are baking them yourself, I recommend under-filling the liners to give you some space to fill with frosting.
I wanted a mint green frosting so I added 5 drops of green food coloring to a container of white frosting. The color turned out great – very light green!
Spread frosting onto each cupcake, leveling it so it’s flush with the cupcake wrapper.
Press your stencil lightly onto the top of the cupcake. Then dip the cupcake into the sugar crystals. Fill in any empty spots before gently pulling the stencil off of the frosting.
How great do these look!? So fun!!
Watch out for Hei Hei! He’s always up for diving headfirst into a tasty cupcake!! LOL!

Moana Cupcakes
Hello,
Was wondering if you would consider making stencils for purchase?
Can you please post the template you used?
I literally just google searched “heart of te fiti” and picked an image to trace.
Hi. These Look Amazing! I’m definitely making these next weekend for my daughter’s Moana party. How much of the sugar crystals did you use? Debating whether a pack of 30g would be enough for about 12 small cupcakes?
I think that would be enough! It’s been awhile since I made these, but I remember using a pretty minimal amount of sprinkles.
What kind of paper did you use for the handmade stencil!
I just used regular card stock! :)
These were great! I had some issues with the stencil sticking to the icing when trying to take it off, but otherwise, awesome!
Thank you so much for the great feedback!! Yes, the icing can be super tricky with that stencil. I’m so glad you gave these a try!!
Just wondering where you got the pig, chicken and boat?
