Mickey Mouse Road Trip Snack

Not only are we a road trippin’ family, but you know by now that we are also a Disney loving family. Many of our road trips lead us to the Disney Parks and of course, when it comes to road trip boredom busters, essential items in our car are SNACKS.  Sometimes I buy pre-portioned snacks and other times I portion them myself in bags or boxes with compartments like the one pictured above. I try to limit the snacks that we bring to non-perishable foods that do not require refrigeration.  That helps save room in the cooler for water and other drinks.

Landon has been loving the brand new Disney Junior show, Mickey and the Roadster Racers.  It combines two of his favorite things on earth – Mickey Mouse and CARS.  This show is so cute.  Have you watched it? One thing I can say about Disney Junior programming is that I enjoy watching most of the shows with the kiddos.  That’s saying a lot, because there are many kid shows that make me absolutely cringe.

Mickey and the Roadster Racers is now available on DVD!  This fun, fast-paced show sees Mickey, Minnie and other pals race around town in their transforming racecars.  They enjoy some friendly racing competition while also taking time to help others.  The kids like the characters and action, I like the positive messages that it relays.  The DVD has a runtime of 88 minutes between the full episodes and bonus material.

This show inspired me to create a really fun road trip snack that my kids are going to LOVE on our next adventure.  I picked up an organizer box at the Dollar Tree.  I added a Mickey Mouse head to the lid that I cut in vinyl on my Silhouette.  If you don’t have a Silhouette, pick up some fun stickers!

I filled the compartments up with the following snacks:

Pretzels
Mini Marshmallows
Red & Yellow M&Ms
Cheez-Its Crackers
Corn Chex Cereal
Mickey Mouse Veggie Chips (I have been having trouble finding these lately – I am not sure they are still being made?)

You can swap out any of the foods that I used for others. That’s what is so great about this snack, it can be adapted to individual taste preferences and allergy or dietary restrictions!  If your snacks are going to be eaten right away, you can definitely include some perishable items.  Cheese and fruit would be wonderful options!

If we were road tripping, I would more than likely make one of these snack boxes for each kid.  Another place that I plan to use them is at the movie theater!  This would be a great way to offer them a small variety of snack options that I know they’ll actually eat.  It’s also very cost effective!
