Marshmallow “Firecracker” Treats
Stack some marshmallows on wooden skewers and decorate with melted chocolate and sprinkles for a fabulously festive patriotic treat. These snacks are easy to make and look awesome on your party table!
As you finalize your 4th of July menu and decide what red, white and blue treats will grace your picnic table, here’s a quick and easy one to consider making. This treat is definitely easy enough that the kids could help. I’m a fan of any sort of treat that comes on a stick because that makes it portable and super easy for the kids to enjoy as they enjoy the party/parade/etc.
You only need a handful of ingredients/supplies for this patriotic treat!
Marshmallow “Firecracker” Treat Ingredients
* Marshmallows
* Red candy melts
* Blue candy melts
* Sprinkles (I love these USA-colored sprinkles!)
* Wooden skewers
How to make Marshmallow Firecrackers
Place several marshmallows on each skewer (I put 5 on each). Arrange them in a single layer on a piece of wax paper.
Melt the candy melts per the directions on the package. I melted each color at 30 second intervals for 1-1.5 minutes. Mix the candy to ensure that it has all melted.
Use a piping bag (or make a DIY one with a ziploc bag) to drizzle each color of chocolate onto the marshmallows.
Allow these treats to sit for a few minutes until the chocolate starts to harden (or pop them in the fridge to speed up the process). I recommend pulling them apart from each other before the chocolate completely hardens.
You can pop these treats in a jar to serve them or you could even stick them in a cake. Either way, they are sure to jazz up your menu! This would make a great dessert idea for Memorial Day, 4th of July, summer BBQs, or even Olympics viewing parties.
