Magic Elf Dust Free Printable
It’s that time of year again! Kids are filled with anticipation and high expectations while parents are wary of those late nights when they inevitably only remember to move the elf AFTER climbing into bed. That’s right – here come the elves! Many families welcome their elves back for the Christmas season on December 1, though this is certainly not a rule set in stone. I know plenty of families who have elves pop in just before or just after Thanksgiving. That’s the nice thing about the elf that I have said many times over the years – it’s as simple or as intricate as you want to make it.
So here’s the thing about the elf, if you need a little refresher. Yes, they are magical. They leave their spot each night and travel back to the North Pole, reporting to the big guy in red any good or bad behavior they might have observed that day. By the next morning, they are back in place, ready for another day of observation. But… what happens when someone touches the elf? *GASP* They lose their magic, of course! They cannot return to the North Pole to ensure that their children remain on that NICE LIST.
Let’s face it: accidents happen. So do accidental elf touchings. That’s where this idea for magic elf dust enters the scene.
You only need a few things on hand to make up a magic elf dust packet, perfect for helping that elf get back to the North Pole.

I have included a few different tag sizes on my Magic Elf Dust printable. Pick whichever one works best for you and use that one. Make sure you hide the remaining page somewhere it won’t be found (I buried mine in the trash)!
Fill your clear bag with a bit of glitter.
Fold the bag over itself to close. Staple or tape it shut and use the tape or stapler to attach the tag. (Fold the tag in half – it should say “Magic Elf Dust” on the front and show the directions on the back.)
You can have the elf show up with Magic Elf Dust or you can have it appear however you’d like. The directions read that kids are to place their elf on a shelf and sprinkle him/her with the Magic Elf Dust. (So make sure they place the elf in an area you don’t mind getting a little dusted with glitter.) Fingers crossed the magic dust will do its job and the elf makes it back up north safe and sound!
