If your kids love the idea of catching a sneaky leprechaun, this adorable Leprechaun Paper Plate Craft is going to be a total hit.
It’s colorful, easy to make, and uses basic supplies you probably already have at home. Plus, it pairs perfectly with your annual leprechaun trap fun.
Let’s make it.

Supplies You’ll Need
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Paper plate
- Black paint (or black construction paper)
- Construction paper (yellow, green, white, black, plus assorted colors for socks)
- Markers

How to Make a Leprechaun Paper Plate Craft
Step 1: Make the Pot
Cut a paper plate in half.
Paint the curved side black to create your pot of gold. Let it dry completely.

Short on time? Skip the paint and cover the plate with black construction paper instead.
Step 2: Create the Gold
Cut a large, cloud-shaped piece from yellow construction paper to look like a pile of gold.
Use a brown marker to draw small curved lines across the yellow piece to give it that “coin” look.

Step 3: Make the Leprechaun Legs
Cut two long rectangles from white construction paper for the legs.
Decorate them with colorful stripes using markers. Bright green, purple, yellow, orange – the more festive, the better.

Step 4: Add the Shoes
Cut two leprechaun shoe shapes from black construction paper.
Add yellow buckles using small yellow paper squares or draw them on with a marker.
Glue the shoes to the bottom of each striped leg.

Step 5: Assemble Your Craft
- Glue the yellow “gold” piece to the flat edge of the paper plate so it looks like it’s spilling out of the pot.
- Attach the striped legs to the back of the gold so they stick up upside down.
- Glue a small green clover onto the front of the pot for a fun finishing touch.

And just like that, your leprechaun is officially stuck.
Fun Add-Ons
- Add glitter to the gold for sparkle.
- Write your child’s name on the pot.
- Hang them in the hallway for an easy St. Patrick’s Day decoration.
- Pair it with a homemade leprechaun trap for extra magic.
This is one of those crafts that looks impressive but is actually super simple – which is exactly how we like it around here.
