After a little over a year of this “Mommy” gig, I feel pretty confident in my toy knowledge, at least, my baby and toddler toy knowledge. Lily Bean has TONS of toys, all different brands, shapes, and sizes. There are a few select brands that are my favorite, and that I’ve mentioned from time to time on here. Without a doubt, LeapFrog is a name that is synonymous with quality, educational learning toys. Yes, we are huge fans of LeapFrog.
There are several new toys joining the LeapFrog line.
Meet Scout and Violet. These two dogs, a boy version and a girl version, are interactive playthings that will delight, teach, and entertain your little ones!
These animals will actually learn your child’s name and interact through songs and words. They can be programmed to know your child’s preferences (by connecting toy to computer by USB- included).
Scout and Violet feature lullabies, learning songs, and activities with numbers, animals, food, and more! We welcomed Violet into our home and Lily Bean nearly passed out from excitement when she saw this new friend. First of all, it was a dog- major brownie points. Second, it played music. Everything else was really just a bonus. This toy is sweet and not obnoxious (like so many other noisy toys around here!). There are enough features to engage Lily Bean and promote learning.
Scout and Violet each require 3 AA batteries (included) and are recommended for ages 6 months – 36 months. They sell for $14.99-$19.99.
The second LeapFrog toy to arrive was the Chat and Count phone. At just 15 months old, Lily Bean is the proud owner of at least 3 cell phones. 2 are play phones, 1 is my old cell phone. She loves phones!
The Chat and Count phone from LeapFrog is such a phenomenal learning tool. It promotes number recognition, counting, and features songs and animations on the screen. The phone has 15 different activities that children can access by pushing the large buttons.
The only drawback we found? When Lily decided to chew on her phone, some of her, uh, slobber became trapped behind the screen faceplate. Yuck. Biker Bob was able to take the phone apart to dry it out, but it wasn’t the easiest.
Other than that, this toy is close to perfect. Lily Bean will sit and talk to the puppy on the screen and I love that it’s a toy that can grow with her. When she’s really ready to start to learn how to count, this toy will help to promote those skills.
Here she is, chilling out with her phone:
The LeapFrog Chat and Count sells for $14.99. It is recommended for ages 18 months+.
