How to Play the Plastic Saran Wrap Ball Game
The Saran Wrap Ball Game is one of the kids’ FAVORITE games to play at parties! It’s easy to put together and a lot of fun to play.
A few years ago, Lily came home from a party and all she could talk about was the “really fun plastic ball game.” It took a few minutes of her describing the game to realize that she had played the Saran Wrap Ball Game. You might have seen a video of this game being played on social media. It’s popular year-round, but especially during the holidays. We played this game last month at Friendsgiving and the kids will get to play it again for New Year’s Eve. They are so excited!
What to Put in Saran Wrap Game
Two words: dollar store. Head to the dollar store and find all sorts of goodies to put in your saran wrap ball. Ours were themed around the Christmas holiday, but depending on what ages are playing the game, the prizes can vary.
Some ideas for what to include:
candy
gum
money
gift cards
small toys
art supplies
bath and body products
small plush
stickers
bubbles
temporary tattoos
Here’s a look at what went into our ball for this game in particular:
How to Wrap Prizes in Saran Wrap
So as you can see from the picture above, I had a lot to wrap! Surprisingly, I only used three rolls of plastic Saran Wrap (and I wrapped things verrrrry generously).
To start, pick a few small prizes and wrap them up in their own ball. This will be the center of your larger ball.
Start a new layer around this center ball. Keep wrapping the ball, adding a couple more prizes every few layers. I kept cutting the plastic wrap after every round or two of prizes. This makes the game a little harder as they kids have to find the end of the plastic wrap more often.
How to Finish the Ball
Once you have wrapped all of your prizes, add a few more layers to the ball. That’s it!
How to Play the Saran Wrap Ball Game
You will need a pair of dice and the saran wrap ball to play this game. Have the players sit in a circle. The first person rolls the dice and when doubles are rolled, the game begins! The player who rolled the doubles gets to unwrap the ball until the next person rolls doubles. Continue in this manner until the entire ball is unwrapped!
Hint when playing with kids: Because we all know that most kids are bound to want whatever prizes they DON’T win, purchase multiples of every prize that you are putting into the ball. At the end of the game push all of the prizes into one big pile in the center of the circle. Divvy the prizes up, giving one of each item to each kid.

Well, this is amazing! We have a 2 1/2 year old grandson who will loooooove this! Best part, we can re-wrap his stocking stuffers . Lol!
LOL!! Good thinking!
We have played this before and it is great fun! If you have a family of all adults, add a challenge by unwrapping wearing mittens or gloves! Hilarious fun!
Oh, I LOVE that idea! Thanks for sharing!:)
