Homemade Apple Pecan Pie Bars

If there is one thing that I have established here on ye old blog, it is that I have a deep affinity for apples. Remember that time when I was very pregnant with Landon and chaperoned Lily’s field trip to a local orchard?  Yeah, I think I came home with about 3 bushels of apples that day.  I was in full-blown nesting mode and probably made enough homemade applesauce to last us for the next couple years.  What can I say?  I love apples!  LOL

    • Yes! I have used fresh apples for this recipe and they turned out great. You basically just need to make homemade apple pie filling. I don’t have a recipe for that on the site, but if you google “apple pie filling recipe” a bunch of good ones come up. :)

  1. I was disappointed that this didn’t use fresh apples. With all the pictures of cut up fresh apples and the lead in about how many fresh apples you’ve bought, I was disappointed when I got to the recipe and saw “21 oz. Apple pie filling”. Otherwise it sounds good. I loved lots of your ideas for Halloween treats and got a copy of your Thanksgiving Book for our children at church. Keep the good ideas coming.

    • Hi Charlene! Thank you for the kind words about my site! You can absolutely use fresh apples in this recipe. You just need to make your own apple pie filling, which is a tad time consuming but does taste great. I don’t have a recipe for homemade apple pie filling on the site, but there are a bunch out there! :)
