Step 3: Make OREO Cookie Cauldrons
Now comes the fun part – making some cookie cauldrons!
OREO Cookie Cauldrons
Equipment
- 12 popsicle sticks
- 1 piping bag
- 1 cookie sheet
- 1 silicone baking mat
Ingredients
- 12 double stuff OREO cookies
- 24 large black pearl sprinkles
- 12 oz dark chocolate candy melts
- 12 oz vibrant green candy melts
- 2 C green pearl sprinkles
- 1 C purple pearl sprinkles
- 1 C bat shaped sprinkles
- 1 C candy eyes
- 1 C skull sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat.
- Separate the OREO cookies. Keep all of the filling on one side of the cookie. Arrange the cookies on the baking mat.
- Follow the directions on the bag of dark chocolate melts to melt the candy.
- Once the chocolate has melted, spoon about 1 teaspoon into the center of the OREO filling.
- Press a popsicle stick into the chocolate and spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of chocolate onto the stick.
- Place the other half of the cookie on top and press. Allow the chocolate in between the cookie layers to harden.
- Re-melt chocolate if needed and then carefully dip the entire cookie on the stick into the chocolate. Tap the stick on the edge of the bowl a couple of times to get rid of extra chocolate.
- Take 2 black pearl sprinkles and place one on the bottom of each side for the cauldon "legs."
- Place the "cauldron" on the silicone making mat and allow it to dry completely.
- Repeat these steps with the rest of the OREO cookies.
- While the cauldrons are drying, melt the green candy per the directions on the bag.
- Once melted, spoon the green candy into the piping bag and gently peel the dried cauldrons off the mat.
- While holding the cauldron in one hand, use the piping bag and pipe the green candy on top of the cookie to make it look like ooze coming out of a cauldron.
- Place green pearl sprinkles, purple pearl sprinkles, candy skulls, candy eyes, and candy bats on the green candy. Allow the candy to harden completely and then place the cauldron into the top of the frosted cupcakes.
- ENJOY!
