First Aid Kit for Kids

The other day I put up a post that showed you how easy it is to put together a DIY mini first aid kit using supplies bought at the dollar store.  I made up 3 of these kits and put one in my purse and one in each of our car glove compartments.  That version included medicines like Tylenol, Excedrin and Zantac which are obviously in mind for adults.  Last night on her way into the house from dance, Lily slipped and fell on the slippery driveway, resulting in a sizable cut on her knee.  We pulled the first aid kit that I made the other day out of my purse and instantly had a wipe, first aid cream and a bandage on hand to clean her up.

That got me thinking about making up a couple more first aid kits but this time making some that were completely kid friendly.  I took out the medication and added a few more bandages and the result was this cute little First Aid Kit for Kids. (I included triple antibiotic cream in our kid kits because Lily is definitely responsible enough to use it on her own or with a teacher or parent’s help. Use your best judgement when it comes to your own kiddos!)

First Aid Supplies

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the words “Boo Boo Kit” out of pink vinyl and affixed the vinyl to the lid of the container.  Lily absolutely LOVED them!  We put one in her Under Armour backpack for horseback riding and the other went in her dance bag.  I know that her dance school and the farm where she rides both  have first aid supplies on hand, but this gives me extra peace of mind!  Plus, Lily is definitely a capable kid who can put on a band-aid, etc, so I like knowing that she has her own basic supplies should she get a minor cut or blister.

I rounded up all of the supplies pictured above at the Dollar Tree.  The containers came in a 2-pack, so they were only $.50 each.  The triple antibiotic ointment was $1.  The bandages and wipes all came from bigger packs, also purchased the the dollar store.  Each kit cost me about $2 to put together!
