Another year, another get-together with one of my besties so that our kids can pump out some handmade ornaments to give to our aunties and grandmas.  As always, we were on the lookout for a simple idea that the kids would not only have fun with, but one that would not take 15 hours to accomplish.

We settled on these simple felt Christmas tree ornaments and they turned out SO cute!  Our felt was a little on the thinner side, so my friend actually cut out the trees ahead of time and glued a tree cutout on each side of a piece of cardstock.  This made our trees much sturdier.  You could certainly skip this step if you don’t need sturdy – it’s up to you!

Material needed:

:: Green Felt

:: Pack of Colorful Buttons

:: Tacky Glue (or any craft glue)

:: Decorative ribbon

:: Scissors

:: Tree Pattern

How to make:

:: We traced our tree pattern on the felt and cut out our trees ahead of time.

:: The kids arranged buttons on their trees while they waited for the glue.  Then they glued the buttons to their trees.

:: We let the trees dry overnight before attaching our ribbons (also with the glue).

:: I like to write the kids’ names and the year on the ornaments each year.  Since it was hard to see anything written on the dark green felt, I used a pen and wrote on the underside of the ribbon instead.
