Hot Starbucks Drinks

New post series!  Allow me to present the very first installment of Fave 5 Friday!  After the hustle and bustle (and downright deal-posting-mania) that happens during the holiday shopping season, I always welcome the quiet beginnings that come with a new year.  January gives me the time and space to plan the content rich posts that keep traffic flowing to the blog all year long.

One of my most favorite things about writing this blog to share well, my favorite things, LOL.  But it’s true.  I love sharing what my family is up to and what we are loving (be that products, services, travel spots, books, movies, food…  the list goes on and on).  My goal is to write a post (publishing every Friday) with a different theme.

I figured I would start with one of my deep loves, which will come to as no surprise if you have followed by blog for any length of time: COFFEE

My favorite 5 hot coffee drinks* at Starbucks

*Small disclaimer: I am purposely NOT including seasonal or holiday drinks in this collection.  These are straight-up, available-all-year-long coffee/espresso drinks.

Nonfat Hot Caffè Latte – It’s a delicious, strong espresso drink made with steamed skim milk and topped with foam.  It is a great midday pick-me-up and it won’t derail your diet.  A tall is just 100 calories and 0 grams of fat.

Caffè Mocha – When you need a caffeine kick and are in the mood for a chocolate flavor (when DON’T those two apply?) this is a smooth, delicious drink. Save some calories by swapping whole milk for skim and I usually get half the normal pumps of mocha syrup. Want to switch it up a tad? Try a WHITE Chocolate Mocha!

Flat White – A smooth, velvety texture, the Flat White combines ristretto shots of espresso with steamed whole milk.

Caffè Misto – This is actually a drink that I discovered by accident. The barista misheard me at the drive-thru and thought I ordered a Caffè Misto, which I had never even heard of before. This drink is oh-so-simple but delicious. It is freshly brewed coffee with steamed milk. Sometimes I’ll add a pump of Classic Syrup to sweeten it, but it stands just fine on its own unsweetened legs.

Caramel Macchiato – These sweet tasting drinks are a once in-a-while treat for me, usually after dinner as my dessert. This one contains freshly steamed milk with vanilla-flavored syrup. It is marked with espresso and topped with caramel drizzle.

I am always up for trying out a new drink. Tell me – what is YOUR favorite hot coffee drink?
