Ask Bob.

Ask him what happens to me when I enter a thrift/consignment/discount store.

My heart begins to race.
I get a little sweaty.
I start frothing at the mouth (okay, okay, that last one might be a bit of an exaggeration)

It’s true though.  If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I practice what I preach.  90% of my kids’ wardrobes comes from consignment sales.  I scour thrift stores for super cheap material to feed my crafty projects.  We spend less money on the things we need to buy (like clothes!) in order to afford the things we want to buy (like Starbucks and vacations).

I know that many of you are somewhat local to me, so I wanted to share some of my favorite thrift stores to shop at.  Even if you aren’t close by, chances are good that you have stores like these near you – you just have to find them!

Just Between Friends Consignment Sale (Hatfield and Lower Bucks) – This one is seasonal.  There is a Spring sale and a Fall sale at both locations.  These sales are where I shop like there’s no tomorrow and grab coats, snow suits, shoes, shirts, skirts, pants, YOU NAME IT, at jaw dropping prices.  These gently worn clothing have plenty of life left – sometimes I even find items that are brand new with original tags still attached.  We’re talking savings of up to 90% off original prices at these sales.  Check out some of my past JBF hauls.  The even better part?  When my kids outgrow these clothes and shoes, I turn around and sell them.  Sometimes I make 100% of my purchase price BACK!  Incredible!

ReStore (Habitat for Humanity, Bucks County in Chalfont, PA) –  We love cruising around our local ReStore every couple of months.  It’s like a treasure hunt!  One day you might find an insane deal on a piece of furniture, the next day it’s surplus building material.  Paperback books are 5 for $1 so Lily always knows she’ll be coming home with some new books to read.  It’s hard to say no at that price!  The best part is that the money from your purchases go right back into the local community to help those in need.

Care and Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton, PA – Another treasure trove for bargain hunters is the shopping complex that makes up the various Care and Share shops.  There is a “bargain outlet” where you pay by the pound and then separate shops for variety items, furniture, books and clothing.  Sales run frequently at these shops, including the super popular “50% OFF EVERYTHING” held on the 3rd Friday of every month!  Much of Care and Share’s profits are donated to various organizations, both locally and worldwide.

NOVA Thrift Shop in Fountainville, PA – Located between Dublin, PA and Doylestown, PA NOVA is another great place to shop for bargains while helping an important cause.  NOVA (stands for Network of Victim Assistance) supports victims of crime throughout Bucks County.  Shop for a variety of goods from clothing to housewares to decor.

Impact! Thrift Stores in Bucks and Montgomery Counties in PA – Impact! has several locations throughout the Philly Burbs.  As is typical with thrift shopping, you never know what you’re going to find.  We are closest to the Montgomeryville, PA location and it’s huge!  Look for fabulous deals on clothing, furniture, home decor, books and more.  Impact! donates to local charities as well.
