Easter Candy Centerpieces

I love making centerpieces and other decorations using holiday-themed candy.  There are so many different kinds of candy that are iconic with their correlating holiday. It’s impossible to deny – when you see a sugary Peep, pastel M&Ms or chocolate bunnies, Easter must be right around the corner.

This morning I dropped Lily off at preschool and headed to Walmart.  I signed up to contribute Easter grass to her classroom party and figured I would just pick up a pack or two and head home.  Well.  If you follow me on Facebook you probably saw the candy/Easter grass stockpile that I ended up buying.  I was literally pulling up Pinterest on my phone in the middle of the store to look for cute centerpiece ideas.  When all was said and done, I finished shopping for Easter baskets, centerpieces, teacher gifts and more.

I ended up with two super cute Easter Candy Centerpieces! The first was a Peep/M&M filled vase that looks great in the middle of my table.  I chose purple Peeps because I like the way their color plays off of the pastel M&Ms.  I stacked two double shot glasses in the middle of the vase.  The bottom glass is open-side down and the top glass is open-side up.  The day before Easter I will plunk a few flowers in the glass (gerber daisies maybe?) with a little bit of water.

For the second piece I used two really wide mouthed ball jars (with CLEAR sides so you can see the inside!).  I plunked down some green Easter grass (the shredded paper variety).  I nestled a chocolate bunny in the center of the grass in each jar and then sprinkled pastel M&Ms all around it.

Even though my bunnies are a little tall and their ears stick up a bit, I LOVE the end result.  These jars are adorable!

Each one took me about 5 minutes total to make.  15 minutes to add a cheery Easter-y look to the table.  LOVE!

Another year I made another version of the Peeps vase – with Jelly Beans and Easter Grass instead of M&Ms!  Watch the video below to see how it turned out!
