If you’re on the hunt for a thoughtful and unique gift for Teacher Appreciation Week, I’ve got the perfect idea – it’s pretty tea-riffic, if I say so myself! This handmade craft combines the cozy charm of a warm cup of tea with a heartfelt – and it all starts with my trusty xTool M1 Ultra.
Supplies Needed for Tea-Themed Teacher Gift
For the Wooden Tea Bag Tag:
- xTool M1 Ultra machine
- Thin wood sheet (I used 3mm basswood)
- xTool Creative Space software (to design or personalize your tag)
- String or baker’s twine (to connect the tag pieces)
For the Gift Assembly:
- Ceramic mug (themed or plain—up to you!)
- Individually wrapped tea bags (Bigelow Chamomile is pictured, but any favorite works)
- Small gift card (optional—but such a nice touch!)
- Tissue paper or paper shred (optional, for filler)
- Cellophane wrap or gift bag (optional for wrapping)
A Personalized Tag That Steals the Show
Using the xTool M1 Ultra, I created an adorable wooden tag shaped just like a tea bag. This little cutie features a sweet engraved message for my son’s teacher.
First, I designed the tea bag-shaped tags in Canva. I save the files as .PNG images with transparent backgrounds and imported them into xTool Creative Space.

From there I set the design to engrave the outline, text, and graphics. Then I made a vector outline around the tags and the circle-shaped holes and set them to cut.
I added my 3mm basswood to the xTool machine and watched the magic happen!

The best part? You can personalize the name on the tag for any teacher, coach, staff member, or even a coworker. The M1 Ultra made it super easy to cut and engrave the wooden pieces, and I tied them together with a short piece of string to mimic a real tea bag tag.

Packaging It Up
Once the tag was complete, I grabbed a cute mug (bonus points if it’s teacher-themed or full of personality!) and filled it with individually wrapped tea bags – chamomile is always a hit. Then I tied the small wooden tag to the inside of the mug so it looked like it was dangling out of the “cup of tea.” It’s such a simple setup, but it makes a big impact!

This tea-rific gift is equal parts cozy and creative – perfect for showing a teacher how much they’re appreciated.
