DIY Personalized Pencil Jar Teacher Gift Idea
Cute teacher gift idea you can make using a dollar store glass far and vinyl cut on your Silhouette or Cricut machine!
What is it about pencils? Few things are as symbolic when it comes to the world of teachers, school and yes of course, test taking! If there’s one thing that almost any teacher needs a steady supply of, it’s pencils (#2, please)! Back to school sales are the perfect time of year to load up on new pencils. Sometimes you can even find a great deal on pre-SHARPENED pencils (that’s like music to my ear!)!
Whether you are looking for a cute and easy teacher gift that the teacher will actually use, or perhaps you are a teacher and would love to have a cute personalized pencil jar for your desk, this DIY project is just the ticket.
I picked up a cylinder-shaped glass jar at the dollar store (you might remember these jars from the jack o’lantern candy corn centerpieces that I made last Halloween!). Then I grabbed my trusty Silhouette Cameo and in about 5 minutes, I had created this monogram design.
I cut the design on black Oracal 651 vinyl and used transfer tape to affix it to the jar!
The final step was to add a big ‘ol handful of those beautiful #2 pencils to the jar! I just love the way it turned out! The yellow pencil color makes the perfect bright background to let the black vinyl stand out boldly against it. This school-tastic DIY would make a great teacher appreciation gift or back to school gift or really any old day gift.
Don’t limit yourself to just one kind of glass container, either! This project would look amazing on a variety of glasses – from pint glasses all the way up to small glass pitchers. Be creative with it!
