Christmas Tree Cheese Platter
Every year on Christmas Eve we host a big family dinner that includes many members of my family, as well as some of our dearest family friends. This year will be at least the 5th or 6th that I have hosted here at our house and I truly look forward to this night all year long! It’s always a nice of great company, delicious food, and so much laughter! We love telling favorite old stories, as well as catching up on new happenings. One year my sister announced that she was pregnant with baby #2 on Christmas Eve. It’s always a day of happy family fun.
Of course, at the center of this lovely gathering is always a tasty spread of food! A few years ago, just as Pinterest was starting to gain wild popularity, I made a totally awesome looking Christmas Tree Cheese Platter. It was so easy to make and everyone LOVED the look!
Isn’t that cute? Cute, festive and totally delicious. The nice thing is that this appetizer is really easy to customize for your own party. You can use any kind of cheese you’d like. I have seen some people add meats like ring bologna, salami and prosciutto as well. We used grape tomatoes to give it a red POP. You could use any fresh green herb you’d like – thyme, rosemary, etc.
Here’s what we used for our Cheese Platter Christmas Tree appetizer:
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Mild Cheddar Cheese
Pepperjack Cheese
Grape Tomatoes
Fresh Thyme
I bought blocks of cheese and cut the cheese down into 1 inch cubes. I used a wooden cutting board to display the platter. Layer your cheese and tomatoes in the shape of a triangle (Christmas tree). Place sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary in between each layer.
Some of our other favorite Christmas dishes include:
Candy Cane Slow Cooker French Toast
Hot Cocoa Bar with Marshmallow Snowmen Stirrers
Santa Hat Brownies
Brown Sugar and Honey Slow Cooker Ham
