Easy Easter Treats
When it comes to hosting Easter dinner for my family, I am always on the lookout for easy, holiday themed treats to add to the dessert menu. These chocolate bunny bites are the perfect addition! They feature white chocolate that melts into the pretzel square. The Easter edition M&Ms in their bright pastel colors add a great burst of color.
These easy M&M Pretzel Treats are as cute as they are delicious. They are the perfect balance of salty and sweet. PLUS – they will look great on your holiday table! The simple ingredients list is another bonus – just 3 ingredients!
M&M Chocolate Pretzel Bites
I’m sure you have seen these treats before – though you more than likely saw them made with Hershey’s Kisses or Hugs chocolates. I intended to make them with Hershey’s Hug chocolates, but the store I was at didn’t carry them so I picked up white chocolate eggs by Dove. Turns out they make a DELICIOUS substitute for the Hugs – very rich in flavor!
The Dove white chocolate eggs are a bit more dense than Kisses or Hugs, so they do take just a tad longer to melt in the oven.
Note: You can sub any white chocolate you prefer. You can use Hershey’s Hug chocolates, white candy melts, or even a bar of white chocolate that you cut into small pieces. White chocolate chips might not work as well because they are so small, but I have not tried using them.
Bunny Bites Ingredients
To make these treats you will need:
- Pretzels (I used Snyder’s SNAPS square pretzels)
- White chocolate eggs (I used Dove brand. Any brand will do and you can use eggs or white chocolate bars cut into small squares.)
- Easter colored M&Ms
M&M White Chocolate Pretzel Bites Recipe
Follow these instructions to make some bunny bites!
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.
2. Arrange pretzels on a cookie sheet. If you want, you can place a piece of parchment paper under the pretzels. I placed my pretzels directly on the baking sheet.
3. I tried to use a whole egg on each pretzel but it was a bit too big. Instead I cut each egg in half and that worked much better. Place the white chocolate piece on the center of the pretzel.
4. Bake for 10 minutes (as opposed to just 5 minutes if you’re using Hershey’s Hugs). The chocolate should be soft and melted, but still retaining its original shape.
Press an M&M into each piece of white chocolate.
5. Refrigerate your M&M Pretzel Treats until fully cooled and then store in an air tight container.
YUM!!
This tasty treat would also make the perfect sweet to give out to friends. Head to a store like Dollar Tree and grab some festive tins. Fill the tins with bunny bites and hand them out close to the Easter holiday.
