Candy Cane Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

Years ago I made my very first sugar scrub.  I gifted olive oil sugar scrubs in several scents to her preschool teachers.  Recently I changed it up a little and used coconut oil instead of olive oil.  I really liked the results because the scrub came out a little  more solid than the olive oil version.  Since the holidays are right around the corner, I wanted to share my recipe for Candy Cane Sugar Scrub.  It’s super easy to make (only 3 ingredients!) and the end result with some red and white twine is pretty eye-catching as well!

You will need:

A word on amounts: I found that a 1:1 ratio of coconut oil and sugar worked pretty well, but I added a little bit more sugar until I found a drier consistency that I really liked.  For this container I used 1 cup of coconut oil, 1 1/4 cups of sugar and 12 drops of peppermint oil.

How to make:

1. Combine coconut oil and sugar in a bowl.  Mix until pretty well combined.  You will end up with some clumps of coconut oil and lots of sugar in between.

2. Add peppermint oil and stir to combine.  I added 6 drops of oil, stirred it up, then added 6 more drops and stirred some more.

Tie some red and white twine around the top of the jar (I got mine at Dollar Tree) and attach this cute printable tag!

To use: I keep my sugar scrubs in a sealed container either on the counter next to the sink or in the shower.  After I use the scrub on my hands, feet, etc, I rinse it off.  The sugar acts as an exfoliater and the oil is a great moisturizer.

    • Nope! I did not melt it before mixing. I mixed it at room temperature. The coconut oil was soft and pliable. (If your coconut oil is really hard, you can microwave it for a few seconds to soften it.)
