American Girl Outlet Hershey
There’s a new spot to shop for American Girl merch and it just so happens in to be in the Tanger Outlets in Hershey, PA.
Of course, any of you who have ever cracked open an American Girl catalog or visited one of the flagship stores (New York City, for example) know that one of the last words you might use to describe American Girl pricing is outlet. An “outlet store” by nature certainly makes us think of bargains and bottom dollar prices and such.
Outlet stores are changing though. Over the years I have seen outlets go from a store that’s selling factory imperfections for bottom dollar to nicer, more upscale store settings, full of brand new merchandise. Yes, it’s often discounted but not usually as steep of a discount as outlet days of old. These days, many brands use their outlet locations as a place to unload previous seasons’ styles.
We were at Tanger Outlets in Hershey, PA this week and our stops at stores like Disney Outlet and Under Armour Outlet found us saving money (upwards of 80% off original sticker price) on previous winter and spring styles. New sneakers for the kids and Bob, other back to school clothing, some fish extender gifts for our upcoming Disney Cruise, etc.
When we pulled in to the outlets, a sign caught my eye and I remembered that this weekend was the grand opening of the much-anticipated American Girl Outlet Store. Many PA AG fans were happy when the temporary store opened up at the King of Prussia Mall a couple of years ago, but that store was just that: temporary.
What merchandise is available at American Girl Outlet in Hershey?
We peeked into the American Girl Outlet Store in Hershey and here are some takeaways:
The store space is actually very small.
The main dolls being sold in this store are the Truly Me Dolls. There are no “Girls of the Year,” Historical Dolls, Wellie Wishers, Bitty Babies, etc.
The store’s merchandise is made up almost entirely of previous seasons’ accessories and clothing. For example, you might luck out and find a retired doll outfit or accessory but you are not going to find Luciana’s space suit outfit (Girl of the Year 2018) in the outlet store in 2018, if ever.
There are no doll ear piercing or salon services at the Outlet location.
The prices are not bottom barrel “old school outlet store prices” but most of the items are at least a couple of dollars under original retail. The dolls were not discounted. They were $115 at the time of our visit.
This store would be a great stop for your American Girl loving kid and there are a lot of cute doll outfits and accessories to shop from. Just don’t expect a store like the New York City location or you will be hugely disappointed. As a fun little shopping outing though? Definitely do-able.
