Hi, I’m Devon Weaver – the mom, creator, and storyteller behind Mama Cheaps.
I started blogging back in 2009, during those wild early days of new parenthood when life felt equal parts magical and overwhelming. What began as a little hobby to share frugal living tips quickly grew into my full-time career – and I’ve spent the past 16+ years building a community where families can find realistic, budget-friendly, and joy-filled ideas for everyday life.
What I Share
On Mama Cheaps, you’ll find:
- Easy family recipes that don’t require a culinary degree (bonus if they’re kid-approved!)
- DIY projects and crafts that tie into my teaching background and my degree in Applied Technology
- A huge library of printables designed to save parents time and money while adding fun to holidays and everyday routines
- Travel tips and stories from our family adventures, whether it’s camping weekends or exploring new destinations

Why I Do This
As a former elementary school teacher with a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Applied Technology, I’ve always loved creating things that are both fun and useful. Now, instead of lesson plans, I get to design printables, crafts, and resources that make family life easier (and a little more creative).
But my biggest inspiration? My family. My husband Bob is my partner in all things, and our kids, Lily and Landon, keep life busy, exciting, and full of ideas worth sharing. Whether it’s sitting in the stands at a hockey game, cheering at a dance competition, or heading out for a camping trip, our family life fuels the content you see here.
Beyond Mama Cheaps
When I’m not working on this site, I’m also creating content for my other blogs:
- Glamper Life – all about camping, RV life, and outdoor fun
- The Gingerbread Pony – my equestrian space for horse lovers
- The Hockey Mom Shop – fun gifts and merch for hockey families
- I also share classroom-friendly printables and resources for teachers on Teachers Pay Teachers, where I draw on my education background to create tools that help both teachers and students.
Together, these projects let me explore all the different parts of my life – and connect with families who share the same passions.
Just for Fun
I’m a coffee enthusiast (must-have for early mornings at the ice rink), a fan of spontaneous road trips, and a firm believer that crafts don’t need to be Pinterest-perfect to bring joy.
