I love this idea for Valentines for a few reasons – it’s easy, it’s cheap and it’s very very cute! The kids are still deciding what their Valentines will be this year, though I’m thinking it’s a great option for my firetruck loving boy.
You should be able to find red candy melts online or at most craft stores, Walmart, etc around Valentine’s Day, BUT, if you happen to think ahead, you can always grab some during Christmas clearance sales, lowering the cost of these treats even more.
You will need:
How to make:
1. Melt red chocolate wafers per the package instructions. I microwaved mine in a glass dish at 30 second intervals, stirring in between each interval. After a couple of minutes, the chocolate was completely melted.
2. Dip one end of each pretzel stick into the melted chocolate. This will give it a “match” like appearance. Rest the pretzel sticks on a piece of wax paper or on a plate and let them harden for about 15 minutes.
3. Save the free printable tag that I made by clicking the image below or by going here. Right click on the tag and choose “save as” to save to your computer. Don’t forget where you saved it! Print the tag on white card stock.
3. Place desired number of “matches” in a clear candy/treat bag and tie the bag closed with twine or ribbon. Punch a hole in the corner of the tag and tie it onto the bag.
