A Closer Look at Noom Weight Loss Program

Even if you have the meal plan clicking and the exercise routine down, your mind needs to break its previous habits for long-term weight loss. Noom uses behavior change psychology to alter your unhealthy habits for the long run!

One thing that doesn’t seem to change no matter how old I get or how many trips around the sun I have traveled, I always make some New Year’s Resolutions and set some goals for the year ahead.  Always. And sure, the goals and resolutions have changed pretty drastically between by pre-kid and two-kid life, but some aspects certainly stay the same. One thing that is always a common recurrence each year is some sort of goal to better myself physically.  I know that I am not alone in this.

This year, however, the goal is a little different.  You see, last year I started focusing on losing a sizable (healthy) amount of weight.  After half a year of sticking that plan and working one on one with a food coach, I am very excited to share that I am halfway to my goal, having lost (and kept off!) more than 30 pounds. The main focus has been my food, not as much emphasis on exercise. I have certainly changed a lot of my old mindset and have broken a lot of my emotional attachments to food, but I still have work to do.

One HUGE thing that I have learned about myself (which I think I already knew but didn’t want to admit): I need accountability. That seems to be the biggest key to my success. I need to be held accountable for my actions, decisions, and food choices… and I need someone to guide me and to get me back on track when I fall off the wagon.

The holiday months were certainly challenging, as they tend to be, and I found myself making better choices than I would have before, but there was still room for improvement.

As I kick off 2019 and look at my goals and resolutions for the year ahead, I am resolving to lose the second half of that weight and I know that I have some mental hurdles to tackle in order to get there.  I just signed up for the Noom weight loss app!

So, I’m all signed up and already completed the first few tasks on the app.  I have looked around on the app and am loving all the recipes and other tools. Tomorrow is my actual first day using the program.  I will be using the app in addition to the food coach I have been using since last spring and I am hoping that by about summer, I am at or very very close to my goal.  I am so excited and motivated!
