5 Fabulous Reasons to Visit Wildwood and Morey’s Piers

If you live anywhere even remotely close to the Jersey Shore, you know that when the radio and television start playing the “Love those Wildwood days… wild wild Wildwood days…” jingle, summer has either arrived or is on its way.  Living in the Philadelphia suburbs comes with a lot of geographical perks, including the ability to be ocean side in just a couple of hours.  This makes a day trip to the beach fairly easy and very achievable.  Even a quick overnight stay can be a fun break from the norm.

Fabulous Reasons to Visit Wildwood and Moreys Piers

A few weeks ago, we had the chance to spend a weekend in Wildwood, NJ as guests of Morey’s Piers.  If you are unfamiliar with the Jersey Shore landscape, here’s a quick refresher:  Wildwood is one of the southernmost shore points on New Jersey’s coastline, located in between Stone Harbor and Cape May.  The beaches do not require beach tags and the expansive boardwalk offers shops, games, food and other entertainment.  Of course, the crowning jewels of the Wildwood Boardwalk are the 3 Morey’s Piers and 2 Morey’s water parks filled with more than 100 rides, lots of great food and more.  Spread out along the boardwalk, these piers and parks offer so much fun, I always feel like I’m at an amusement park and forget that I am right next to the ocean!

During this overnight visit to Wildwood, we stayed at one of the Morey’s hotel properties, the Pan American Hotel.  Bob and I would probably say that our favorite part of the hotel was the close proximity to the beach.  I’d bet money that the kids would name the pool and the BUNK BEDS in our room as the best perks!

As we reflected on our Wildwood weekend as a family, we came up with our own list of reasons why YOUR family would love a visit to Wildwood and Morey’s Piers.

1. Morey’s Piers – You have three piers to choose from on the Wildwood boardwalk and all of them offer so much fun and entertainment!  The three piers are: Mariner’s Pier, Adventure Pier and Surfside Pier.  The kids’ favorite was Mariner’s Pier with Surfside Pier coming in at a close second.  Both offered a TON of rides that were perfect for little kids (with a few bigger rides for our 8 year old thrill seeker). I highly recommend the ride wristbands if you plan on spending any real amount of time riding rides.  They are convenient and the kids can literally ride until they drop!

2. The Food – There are more food options along the Wildwood boardwalk that you can imagine.  What are you in the mood for?  Salty?  Sweet?  Dinner?  Drinks?  Yeah – you can find that on the boardwalk!  Among the favorite treats that we enjoyed during our weekend in Wildwood:  Curley’s Fries and Johnson’s Popcorn (Surfside Pier), Crab Cakes from Stubborn Brothers Beach Bar and Grille (Surfside Pier) and I had a delicious veggie quinoa wrap from Jumbo’s (Adventure Pier).

3. The Beach – One of our favorite family pastimes is most definitely enjoying a relaxing day at the beach (followed by a sunset walk after dinner).  Wildwood not only has an enormous beach, there are no beach tags required.  We love spending time on the beach by day and then hitting the boardwalk for rides and dinner at night!

4. The Hotels – Cruise down the main drag in Wildwood and you can count dozens upon dozens of hotels.  We had the opportunity to spend a night at the Pan American Hotel (owned by the Morey Family) and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others!  The hotel was located close to the boardwalk and the front doors are a (very) short walk until you’re on the beach!  The kids loved the pool and we all ate a tasty breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Alosi’s.  As I mentioned above, we were in a room that featured bunk beds built into the wall for the kids.  This was a fantastic perk to our room!  We also had a small kitchenette complete with a dining table and chairs.  Our balcony looked out over the pool with views of the ocean in the distance.

5.  The Water Parks – During the daytime hours, be sure to enjoy one or both of the water parks (also operated by Morey’s Piers).  We got to check out BOTH of the water parks and they were pretty incredible.  We kept forgetting that we were situated right next to the ocean!  Both water parks had so much to do – from lazy rivers and water slides to splash zones for the kids.  The two water parks on the Wildwood boardwalk are Ocean Oasis Water Park + Beach Club and Raging Waters Water Park.  You will find food right by both water parks, including all sorts of tasty eats!
