Fueling After School Sports with ACME Market’s Stock Up Sale

I teamed up with ACME Markets to fuel my kids’ activities. All opinions are my own.

Every year as the lazy days of summer inevitably return to the regimented schedule-driven school year, I secretly find myself feeling thankful for routine. As much as I love sleeping in (just kidding, I have a preschooler!) and not having to deal with car line or catching the bus or getting to any number of after-school activities, my family seems to thrive with daily routine.

Our typical school year routine features one kid heading to elementary school while the other kid attends preschool three days a week. When they are not in school, we juggle the typical list of family responsibilities including any doctor, dentist and orthodontist appointments that might pop up. Toss in some school related activities, friend’s birthday parties, and family gatherings. It can get a little hectic and I haven’t even touched upon the kids’ sports schedules yet!

One thing that I love to do when the kids are in school (now that BOTH of them are old enough for school!) is to head to the grocery store BY MYSELF. Before I shop, I check my ACME Markets MyMixx App for coupons that I might be able to use while shopping. Then I savor the uninterrupted silence as a I cruise up and down the aisles looking for dinner ideas and great deals on snacks that will keep the kids fueled up between meals! Lily is now 9 years old and her two main passions are horseback riding and dance/theatre. She commits 3 nights a week to practicing these disciplines and those nights are a whirlwind of off-the-bus-get-changed-eat-snack-get-in-car. On dance nights in particular, she spends 3 hours at the studio 2 nights a week. I am always on the lookout for new snack ideas that I can send with her to eat in the car or in between classes that keep her energy up and belly full! I use coupons and also great sales like the ACME Markets Stock Up Sale to keep lots of snack options on hand at all times.

ACME Market's Stock Up Sale

Last week after I dropped Landon off at school, I rolled right on down to our neighborhood ACME Market to take advantage of some of their great stock-up-worthy prices on many brands that my kiddos LOVE. There are two types of snacks that tend to work the best for Lily on her busy nights: handheld snacks that she can eat in the car as we drive to her studio or to the farm and hot meal-like snacks that we can put in her Thermos and she can eat during breaks in between dance classes.

Progresso Soup, Annie’s Natural Mac and Cheese and Totino’s Pizza Rolls all work great for hot meal snacks. I cook them up just as her bus drops her off, put them in her Thermos container and off we go. They stay warm for several hours and provide a hearty and filling option for my little athlete!

Pillsbury Toaster Strudel (apple is our fave!) and Totinos Party Pizza work well for warm snacks that I have ready as she gets off the bus and eats at home before we head to the car.

Yoplait Traditional Yogurt cups are handy for quick and easy snacks that she can eat in the car OR in between dance classes.

I rounded up a bunch of these snack options at ACME Market so that we will have them on hand for busy nights this week and next week.

We all know how important it is for active kids to get plenty of sleep and to stay hydrated by drinking enough water. It is equally important for them to eat enough to replenish all of the calories that they are burning!

Because it takes a whole lot of this…

I like that when I shop at ACME Market I can find some great deals on family favorites, including products from General Mills, Coca-Cola, Kraft and Nabisco. Locally, I find these values and more at ACME Markets. If you don’t have an ACME Market nearby, be sure to check out these products at your local Albertsons Companies grocery stores including Albertsons, Safeway, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Shaw’s, Star Market, United Express, United and Carrs/Safeway.
