There are several brands that we discovered early on in Lily’s life that have ended up being mainstays as she has grown and now with Landon.  LeapFrog is one of those brands.  From Lily’s very first LeapFrog toy, we were hooked.  We loved the how much fun she could have with toys as they taught her everything from ABCs and 123s to animal sounds.

Here were are, more than 6 years from the first day a LeapFrog toy has come into our home.  I think what is amazing to me is how LeapFrog has stayed in the game – consistently coming out with THE. NEXT. BIG. THING.  Their toys always find themselves on the list of the holiday’s most wanted toys, and this year is no exception.

We had the opportunity to test out the brand new LeapTV from LeapFrog.  My very first thought when I opened the box was, “WOW!  LeapFrog DOES IT AGAIN!”  The LeapTV is an active video gaming system.  The games get kids up and moving, jumping and dancing.

Aimed at the 3-8 year old crowd it combines movement with an educational component.  Kids use the included controller and also the motion-sensing camera to navigate the games.    They can play three ways – body motion, pointer play and classic control. LeapTV provides access to LeapFrog’s Learning Library which consists of 100+ game cartridges, game downloads and videos!

What’s in the box: console, motion-sensing camera, camera mount, transforming controller with wrist strap, HDMI cable, 16 GB of memory for built-in Wi-Fi for downloads.

Our experience:  We were so excited to try LeapTV!  We received the console as well as two cartridges – “Sports!” and “Dance and Learn.”  Both of these cartridges are recommended for kids ages 4-7.  I should note that the LeapTV was so easy to set up, I was the one who got everything all hooked up.  I usually let Bob handle everything technical, but this was a matter of plugging in the HDMI cable, internet connection and setting things up online.  Easy!

We were ready to go!  Lily spent some time playing right away.  When you register your LeapTV with LeapFrog you automatically get the Pet Play World game for FREE!

After some Pet Play World she couldn’t wait to try out the Sports! game cartridge.  She played a couple different sports.  Some require using just the controller while others use the motion-sensing camera.

The next day, we were all set up to have a few friends over so that their kids could check out the LeapTV.

We ordered pizzas and got ready for some fun!

I have to say – the LeapTV did a great job at getting the kids moving and seemed to really engage them as well.  We loved that many of the games could go up to 4 players.  That way more kids could be included each time.

We had a great time!

Here’s a look at the live action.  The girls were doing the Swimming game on the “Sports!” cartridge.

I know that the LeapTV is on MANY holiday toy lists this year. The MSRP is $149.99 and I will have my eye out for any fabulous holiday deals on it!
