I know you don’t want to hear this (and quite frankly, neither do I), but Back to School time is coming. It’s just weeks away and there is nothing we can to do stop it. Here in PA, we fortunately have about a month left of lazy hazy summer days. After that, it’s game on.
Dance classes start.
Acting classes start.
Riding lessons continue.
Horse shows continue.
And this year, for the first time ever, we’ve got a kid going to school full day, days a week. There will be many nights where it’s an “OFF THE BUS, RACE TO ACTIVITY” kind of evening. I really don’t mind the rush, because it’s all good stuff. The one thing that I do mind, however, is that sometimes in all that rushing and all of my making sure that each kid has everything he or she needs, I inevitably forget about myself and my needs. This includes totally forgetting what day of the month it is and sometimes being extremely ill-prepared should Mother Nature decide to “treat” me with my “friend.” (<-- Ohhhhh I really hate when people use that term for their cycle or period or whatever you personally call it.)
So I don't carry a purse. Because let's face it, the diaper bag has pretty much become my purse. I try to keep period supplies tucked into the diaper bag (so much for discreetly carrying them) but at any given moment the inside of our diaper bag resembles the inside of my car: a HOT MESS.
Therefore as this new school year approaches, I'm taking a little time out before the madness kicks off, and preparing things for MYSELF to get off to a great start. This includes a trip to my local Walgreens where I stocked up on some supplies to put together a survival kit just for me!
I picked up a box of new U by Kotex CleanWear® by U which feature 3D Capture Core (a one-of-a-kind center that locks away wetness and helps to stop leaks). They are made to move with you and not bunch up - something that comes in handy when you're chasing a toddler or running for the bus.
Might I also mention the super fun bright colors and patterns?
While I was at Walgreens I made sure to grab some Bic Soleil razors (for the once-in-a-while treat when I get to linger in the shower!) and a new EOS Lip Balm (summer fruit scent!) because I am a lip balm fiend!
I found all of the other essentials for my Cycle Survival Kit (including the adorable striped bag!) at Walgreens. They included: gum, pain reliever, bandaids, and wet wipes.
I loaded all of the items into my bag and slipped it into the diaper bag. It is MY BAG. NO ONE is allowed to put their grimy little hands on it! All mine! I will be leaving it in the diaper bag so that I am never far from any of my supplies should the need arise.
