Our Experience
We have enjoyed breakfast at Chef Mickey’s during 3 different Disney vacations over the years. Located inside the Contemporary Resort, you eat in an open-air type restaurant with views of the monorail whizzing in and out of the building above you every few minutes. During our first 2 trips to Chef Mickey’s we weren’t staying nearby and drove to the resort. Our last trip we stayed at Bay Lake Tower and it was maybe a 5 minute walk from our room to the restaurant.
I love Chef Mickey’s because it is a great character meal that does not require theme park admission. This makes it a great choice to get a Disney fix before you check in or after you check out of your hotel. It’s also a nice option for a non-theme park day during your trip.
We have always had breakfast at Chef Mickey’s and have found the selection to be very good. A waitress fills your drinks and clears away your dirty dishes. The buffet offers up a typical breakfast fare – everything from pancakes and Mickey waffles to fresh fruit and oatmeal. There are plenty of options, and a bunch of kid-friendly favorites as well.
The kids’ love Chef Mickey’s because (besides the yummy food) they get to meet several of their very favorite Disney characters. While the characters can change without warning, we usually meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. They come to your table as you eat and you get to meet each character as they rotate through your section. The characters will sign autograph books (we used photo mattes) and pose for pictures.
