Disney’s Into the Woods
Oh. If ever there was a movie that I COULD NOT WAIT to see, it was Disney’s Into the Woods. Many many years ago when I was in high school, our drama club put on a production of Into the Woods. I helped with behind the scenes stuff (too chicken to get on the stage though!) and I sat through most practices and every performance. I love the music and I love the way that the show intertwines some of the most well-known fairy tale characters into one big story.
Boasting several notable actors including Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick, I was chomping at the bit to get the chance to see the film-adaptation of this musical. Of course, getting to the theaters these days with Bob is pretty non-existent thanks to the kids, a lack of babysitters and a full calendar. I was thrilled to learn that Into the Woods was playing during our cruise on the Disney Dream in February! On the night that it was playing, we dropped Lily off at kids’ club, and rolled an exhausted ready-to-crash Landon into the ship theater right in his stroller. We were able to watch most of the movie while he snoozed before having to pick her up (SO WE COULD WATCH FIREWORKS! ON THE SHIP!). I just LOVED the film version of Into the Woods!
Then a few days ago, Lily and I enjoyed a movie night together at home and I introduced her to the songs and story of Into the Woods. She thought it was great, pronounced Little Red Riding Hood her favorite character and I have caught her singing snippets of the signature song on more than one occasion.
