• Look! I Got a Coupon from JCPenney – the Store That Doesn’t Give Out Coupons!

    Obviously my post title is sarcastic.

    As we have been seeing in the past few months, despite their rather horrific “JCPENNEY DOES AWAY WITH COUPONS” campaign last year, it appears that coupons (though sporadic) are back.

    I got this $10 off any $10 purchase coupon in the mail last week – which to be honest used to be the only motivation to GET me to JCP in the first place.

    How about you?  Did you get one?

    I used to get them in the past and am looking forward to getting one, though none so far. Glad to see they finally got a clue. They based their no coupon/low price philosophy on a 50′s version of consumer who actually trusted retailers. It just doesn’t work that way anymore. Their coupons actually pulled me into their store though I almost never set foot into a mall at any other time.

    I got one of these too! I heard that their new “marketing plan” of low prices everyday wasn’t working so well, so they were going to go back to some coupons and sales. I have to say I love their current offerings and the look of their marketing items, but it usually takes a coupon or sale to get me to stop in there as I’m not much of a mall shopper.

      Definitely – the coupon was always my motivation to get in the door!
