Ahoy there!
One of my very favorite things to do when we head to the shore is to take the fam out for a yummy seafood dinner. Well here it is, Labor Day weekend… and we STILL haven’t made it to the shore.. not once! While I’m hoping for a fall day trip to the beach, the folks over at Gorton’s Seafood managed to take care of my seafood cravings!
I have to admit, I don’t buy seafood very often. And honestly, I’m not sure why not. I love seafood. From shell fish to fillets, my taste is pretty open. I remember being about 7 years old and my favorite “big people meal” to get at a restaurant was monk fish with melted butter. LOL Quite an order for a second grader!
We had the chance to try out some of Gorton’s offerings. Among them were fish sticks (a timeless classic) and their Signature Grilled Tilapia. Yum. Yum. And yum. Biker Bob and I enjoyed the Tilapia. We served it over rice and had some steamed veggies on the side. There is something about a grilled meat that just enhances its flavor to no end. It is comfort food wrapped up in a summertime feeling. I might not have thought to try a meal like this one- and I’m sure glad we had the opportunity.
We are already planning our next seafood purchase- I’m thinking salmon! We took a cruise to Alaska a few years ago and were introduced to salmon grilled on a cedar plank- the taste was incredible. I can’t wait to try some more of Gorton’s creations- perhaps the Lemon Butter Grilled Salmon Fillets?
We enjoyed our treats from the sea- and it was a great reminder that I need to include more seafood on my grocery lists!
