Reader Karen remembered that last summer I posted my Mom’s infamous crock pot baked bean recipe- and asked if I could pass it along again.
I figured that with Memorial Day coming up the timing is perfect- these beans are so simple, they almost make themselves. They are always a hit at our parties… we’re talking empty-crock-pot-popular!
Crock Pot Baked Beans
Ingredients: 5 cans butter beans (great northern work well, too!), 1 lb bacon (cooked, cut), 12 oz ketchup, 3/4 C brown sugar
Directions:
1) Rinse butter beans and add them to crock pot.
2) Add remaining ingredients to the crock pot.
3) Simmer on low for 4-5 hours.
Serves 8-10
p.s. Many times I’ll just double the recipe to make even more. It serves more people, plus I love having some leftovers- TASTES EVEN BETTER THE NEXT DAY!
