Yeah! I am so excited about this one! I have mentioned here a few times (and a ton of times on my Facebook page) that I have REALLY been enjoying the new “Food Revolution” that has been sweeping the country (world?) compliments of Jamie Oliver. Jamie Oliver is a world renowned chef (you may know him as “The Naked Chef“). His television show “Food Revolution” aired on ABC this Spring and chronicled a small town in America and its fight against obesity. Jamie jumped right into the trans fat and caloric madness and worked to provide healthier school lunches for the children (WHILE proving that you CAN eat healthy and STAY on budget). I really enjoyed how he educated the town as well. He offered cooking classes and demonstrations to teach everyone how to incorporate more whole foods into their diets.
Jamie’s Revolution is not a fad diet or some sort of get-thin-quick scheme. It’s not a diet at all. It is very simply about adopting a healthier, smarter way of eating and preparing food… not eating processed, chemical filled, preservative laden meals from a box or take out window… and instead going back to the basics with whole, sometimes organic, fresh foods. He has motivated people to get back into the kitchen and cook up fresh meals for their families.
I purchased a copy of Jamie’s Food Revolution last week and have explored its recipes. The other night I made the most delicious asparagus we have ever had- thanks to Jamie’s recipe.

One recent change we made is to focus on water. We’ve eliminated the sodas and juices and are trying to focus on only drinking water. Thanks!

We started drinking tons of water and eating more veggies this year!
I bring in less junk food and more fruits and veggies. If the junk is out of the house they will grab a banana or celery to snack on

For a lifestyle change we’ve recently been buying much more fruit and nuts than we had in the past. The kids are starting to get used to them for snacks.
We started walking and cut out all junk foods and prepackaged convenience foods. Hubby has already lost 50lbs in 4 months!! Wish I could lose that fast.
I encourage my kids to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and I’ve been eating more fiber. Thanks.
i walk 10,000 steps a day now and i feel great
only allow healthy foods in the house
I purchase healthier items for my family to eat. When they open the cupboard or the fridge there is not a lot of junk food to snack on.

We have started scheduling work out time and sport time into our family schedule so that we know that me, my husband and two older daughters all have three or four times a week that they are able and and encouraged to work out.

We eat fresh vegetables & grill alot. I also may my own marinades with fresh herbs.
We have eliminated sweets all together!
I try to make slow changes to our diet by swapping out items one at a time. switching from 1% regular milk to fat free organic milk was easy but sometimes switching is more difficult: lots of reluctance to switch from wheat bread to 100% wheat bread, for example.
I buy what they eat and I do all cooking from scratch so I can really keep bad stuff out of the house and I do!
