Other Places I Hang Out:

Mamas, you probably remember it as though it were yesterday: after 9 months of pregnancy, the moment had finally arrived. Your precious bundle of joy was on his or her way and you anxiously anticipated your first meeting. I don’t know about you, but I remember the first few days after having Lily Bean. I was in the hospital and my room was overrun by a daily sea of visitors. And looking back on those days, I definitely felt, well, horrendously ugly. Hunched over from my c-section incision, bloated and puffy from 24+ hrs on IV fluids, bags under my eyes… you get the picture; it’s not pretty. I sure wish I had had something to brighten my appearance a bit… whether that had been a gown, robe, tiara, or bag over the head. But I digress…

Mamas-to-Be out there- listen up! There is a seriously hot product out there right now- one that might be just the pick-me-up you need after entering mommyhood.

Allow me to introduce: Hot Mama Gowns. Hot Mama Gowns are designer pregnancy/recovery gowns that are a sure bet to make you feel like a hot mama!

These super chic gowns boast the following features:
  • 100% Organic Cotton
  • Snap down back to keep Mama covered
  • Two individual ribbon-tied panels to allow for quick, easy and discreet nursing
  • Made in the USA
  • Sizes for EVERYONE! 2-24 (no more looking like you’re wearing a one-size-fits-all sack!)
  • Gowns expand to fit a pregnant belly and then contract to fit as nursing pajamas after labor and delivery
  • Sizes are based on Mama’s pre-pregnancy size- SO helpful when figuring out which one to get!

Gowns retail for $119 (sizes XS-L) and $139 (sizes XL-XXL).

One of our site contributors, Jen, had the opportunity to try out her very own Hot Mama Gown as she welcomed her beautiful son, Richard Ason into the world on 1/27/10. The following review is in Jen’s own words, and are based 100% on her own opinions.

I have to admit ever since I saw Tori Spelling wearing a super cute hospital gown on Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood I knew I had to have one. Seriously, think about it: who wants to have their first pictures of them with their new baby wearing one of those God awful hospital gowns?

When the opportunity to review Hot Mama Gowns came up, I was so excited! At first I didn’t think that I would find a cute gown in my size – because to be honest I’m no skinny mini- but Hot Mama Gowns range in size from 2 to 24!

When my Hot Mama Gown arrived in the mail, I squealed with delight! First I need to say that the packaging is gorgeous. I hadn’t even opened the box yet and I knew I was in love. The gown was incredibly cute and the fabric was not your typical breezy hospital gown fabric. I couldn’t wait to have my baby wearing this super sassy gown!

My labor was a little bit different than I thought it was going to be, so I was forced to wear what the nurses called “the lovely Doylestown Hospital Lingerie ” the first night because I was being induced. Long story short, all night I felt like I was choking because the neck on the traditional hospital gown came up way too high. I was freezing because the material was so thin. No matter how I rearranged the gown, due to serious design flaws, my butt was hanging out everywhere! Honestly, getting comfortable was not an option in the traditional hospital gown.

Finally after I had my baby I was able to change into my Hot Mama Gown and boy was I excited! I was finally warm and covered up! The neck line is perfect; I was able to easily nurse the baby wearing this gown. Plus- I looked and felt super cute! One of the other features that I loved is that the gown didn’t just look like a big old potato sack hanging on me – I was able to adjust it so that it was flattering! What? Yes I said it- I just had a baby and BAM- I had a figure back, (or the illusion of one!) thanks to the gown!

The gown made it super easy to nurse and still have visitors! After all, people pop in and out of your room to check in on you and to come meet your new baby! So it was great that I could still be a mom without giving everyone a show!

All in all I give this gown 2 thumbs up and I would HIGHLY recommend them to any mom to be! They would also make a wonderful baby shower gift – and check it out- you can get a matching blanket for the baby how cute is that?!

And there you have it. A real review from a real hot mama. Be sure to check out Hot Mama Gowns, either for yourself or for an expectant friend. They even offer gift certificates- perfect if you don’t know what size or pattern she would prefer.
