This program was put on hold for awhile, but it looks like it’s back and accepting cards again!

Are you looking for a small way to make a big difference for some very special children? You are probably familiar with St. Jude’s Hospital. St. Jude’s is a pediatric research hospital that provides treatment to children- regardless of whether the family is able to pay for services or not. No one is denied service and everyone who walks through the doors receives cutting edge treatment.

The St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is another amazing facility for kids in need. “For more than 40 years, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children has provided a safe, nurturing home and therapeutic residential treatment services to more than 1,000 children in Nevada and Texas. St. Jude’s Ranch is making a difference by creating new lives with new skills for abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths.”

St. Jude’s Recycled Card Program

Send your used cards (Christmas, birthday, any type!) to the children at St. Jude’s Ranch. The kids there will cut the fronts off of the old cards and affix new backs, creating new cards! The recycled card program helps to provide teens at the ranch with life and work skills.

Who does this program benefit? It benefits all of US by encouraging us to “go green” and recycle. It benefits the children at St. Jude’s Ranch by teaching them about recycling and earning some spending money!

St. Jude’s Ranch is accepting used, all-occasion cards YEAR ROUND!

  1. Is this for REAL? I support St. Jude’s hospital in Memphis 100% and I have hundreds of greeting cards I have saved over the years. (never throw anything away). I had planned to get rid of them though for I am downsizing after my husband passed and I just do not have space for them. Do I cut the front off and just send that or do I send the complete card which some of them have messages on them and surely the name of the sender. This is a great idea if it is for the children with cancer and other life threatening illness’es.
Please respond as soon as you can so I can start getting the cards together to mail. Will take me some time to cut the front off of all the cards I have.
    Thanks,
    Millie Fletcher

    • Definitely real! :) I have sent my own cards the past few years. Just cut the fronts off of any cards you’d like to send. They will take any type of card – not just Christmas. Just no Hallmark, American Greetings or Disney b/c of the copyrights. You can follow the link in my post for more info, program history, etc.

  2. what a wonderful idea. I have been to the St. Jude’s in Memphis, Tennessee. I didn’t know they had one in Nevada too. I was in their gift shop and did see refurbished cards, I just didn’t know that people sent these in so they can be recycled.

  3. Our church, SonFire by the River is only 3 years old. On the 5th Sunday of the month we have a “DO SOMETHING SUNDAY”. I suggested St Jude’s card program and it was a great success. Keep up the good workj

  4. I hate to burst people’s bubble but St Jude’s Ranch for Children is not related to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Still a worthy cause but it’s a common misconception.

    • Yes, that is correct. I do not say they are related in this post but mentioned the hospital as a separate entity. Two great programs, unrelated to each other.
